About Turn off avast this site is safe
Hi Avast Community! My name is Jarone Ashkenazi. I just recently downloaded the Avast free version to help with my computer. A friend of mine told me about Avast and I decided to remove Norton since it Avast was highly recommended. So far it is great, but I’m having issues with my computer speed.Even when I’m not running scans, things to appear to be a little slow. My question is- do I need to enable Avast 24/7 or can I only turn it on when I want to perform scans? Thanks in advance for your help!Thanks,Jarone Ashkenazi Welcome to Avast Forum :). You should have used the Norton Removal tool in safe mode. Uninstall Avast via add/remove and after uninstallation it will ask to restart and follow the instructions. After restart download this tool run it and this tool will ask if you want this tool to run your computer in safe mode automatically. Click yes on both and follow the instructions.After that download Norton removal tool via here First off, turn on your computer in safe mode and run this tool and follow the instructions.Once that is done. Install Avast Free (use custom install) so you can choose what features you want to install. Also note that uncheck any additional/optional program that it will offer i.e. google chrome, google drive, and etc. Once installation is done it will do a quick start up scan. Once finished, restart your computer manually. After restart register your copy of avast. For some reason Avast seems to be blocking a web site that it shouldn’t.How can I tell if it is an Avast problem or if something else is going on?I am using Avast v. 10.3.225.Or maybe somebody can explain how to Avast learn that this is an OK website?Thanks in advance… Pondus August 3, 2015, 1:56pm 2 what website?and what does avast say … is it URL:mal ? Funny thing tho… it worked a few times yesterday. And if I use Safari for PC it works fine.Thanks for the help…Rich Pondus August 3, 2015, 2:35pm 4 never seen that message before ?seems like a avast / Chrome issue and not related to the website … tried with IE / Opera Thanks for looking and trying to help… It seems that if I go to Settings—>Active Protection—>Web Shield in Avast and turn off Web Shield I can get there with no problem. I entered the URL into the Exclusions portion of Avast but for some reason it did not work and the site still gets blocked.I really hate leaving it off but I don’t know what else to do… mchain August 4, 2015, 11:05pm 7 Could be a false positive but we would need to see a block by avast screenshot from you to know that. From what you say is avast firewall is blocking Chrome from accessing this site cannot be as you are turning off WebShield in order to access using Chrome. WebShield and your firewall are not the same thing. If it was your firewall blocking Chrome it would not work anywhere, not even this one particular site.Are you sure this warning is not a phishing attempt to get you to visit a malicious site elsewhere?A screenshot of this warning would help (provided you have WebShield turned on).
